The Most Important Test
April 4, 2008So the nursing students took their exit exam today.
This is the test we must pass, not only as a requirement for graduation, but also to be eligible to sit for the state boards and get a nursing license. The anxiety leading up to this test has been HUGE. I feel like I’ve been put through the wringer.

I am so glad its over, and that I passed.

I am going to enjoy the weekend, but its back to the grind on Monday, we still have two more tests before we graduate.

Dead
February 25, 2008The washing machine just died.

It was mid cycle with a very large load of my undergarments in it.
If its not fixed by Tuesday I’ll be making a trip to Target to restock.

I’m “Tomball” Famous
January 25, 2008So about two years ago I was walking through the courtyard at school, when I was approached about appearing in a commercial for the college. Being rather modest, it took several seconds for me to agree, run to the bathroom, check my hair and sign the model release. After about fifteen seconds of filming, the whole experience was over, and I quickly forgot all about it.
Fast forward two months, I’m deep in thought, studying the liver or the pancreas, and I get a text message from a friend proclaiming that she has just seen me on the “big screen” at the Willow Brook movie theater. “How amazing,” I thought, “I’ve finally been immortalized in celluloid!”
My parents saw my commercial a few days later. They were so proud. I’m pretty sure my dad was more proud of that than the fact that I was a straight-A nursing student or that I had never been to rehab.
When I finally saw the commercial, I was crestfallen. I was on the screen for approx. 0.8 seconds. Oh well…
That summer, the college sent out a flier. I never realized that the college advertised by mail, but I had never really had a reason to pay attention. But I did this time. On the front of said flier, there I was, once more immortalized, only this time in print. It was a red-letter day!
(Thats me in the Orange; My nose is not really that big)
As you all have probably noticed, the college has changed names, and the commercial, which has been playing continuously for the past 2+ years at the movie theater had to come down. I was kind of sad…. I wouldn’t get any more random texts saying, ” I just saw you at the movies!” All good things must come to an end, right?
NO!
I just saw the new Lone Star College System commercial, and I’m still in it!
Thats right… I’m Tomball famous
